April 2018 Children’s Centre Update
Dear Parents and Carers
Action for Children are delighted to announce that we will be the Devon-wide provider of Children’s Centre Services from April 2018. This means we will be able to continue to offer services across all the communities we currently serve and we will take on some additional centres in Exeter.
There will be changes to our services and this will include extending our age range from conception to 8 years, with a greater focus on early support when children and families need it. We will continue to deliver evidence-based programmes, such as Incredible Years and Here’s Looking at You Baby, and to provide 1-to-1 family support. Some groups and activities, such as Stay and Plays, will be phased out. Whilst this is happening, we will support communities to access play and other groups provided by local organisations and also to build up their own activities for children where they can, to replace some of the play and group activities we have previously provided. This will make sure children, parents and carers can access fun and supportive activities locally for their children.
If you work for a local group or service and want to know more about what support we can offer you, please do get in touch.
We know how much children and parents love our play sessions and we will be offering some extra sessions that can be paid for. We will have a brand-new website called ‘Grow Devon’ for this, which will tell you all about what is going on across Devon. To attend, simply click the link and go straight to Eventbrite to book and pay for you and your child to take part. The website will be up and running in April and these new groups available around June.
We will ensure to keep you updated every step of the way with our new Children’s Centre programme and this will be done through our website and social media. There are also feedback slips available in our Centres if you have any great ideas. As always you can also speak to us if you have any questions or comments. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you soon.

Action for Children recognises that the risks to which children and young people may be exposed are real and need to be reduced wherever possible.
